SUMMER of 11 Shock & Awe: HIGH VIEW OF GOD

We have started strong; thanks for your support!

Ladies, thanks to each of you comprising this current series; your attendance has been so fine for hot summer months and your emails so encouraging!
Don't flag now; let's dig deep by doing the few homework questions each week and gathering the extra reading sources to meditate further on the character of our Mighty God.

You will find the first two weeks lectures posted here--the first being a little short, and the second--extra long!

Look for a complete list of resources used for the WORSHIP mini-course to be posted here soon.

"Favorite Dead Guy Quote"

MARTIN LUTHER, c. 1530

This life, therefore, is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness.
Not health but healing
Not doing but being
Not rest but exercise.
The process is not yet finished,
But we are growing toward it

This is not the end, but it is the road..
All does not yet gleam in glory
but all is being purified.

ANNOUNCING: FALL OF 2011 WOMEN OF THE WORD

THE STUDY OF ROMANS !!!
THE GREATEST LETTER EVER WRITTEN
Begins 9/12 at Carmel Baptist Church , Route 51, Charlotte

Yes, Ladies it's true! I have been hearing the call to go "this deep" for some years now, and finally saying "Yes!" to the challenge.
So we will launch in Mid Sept into Romans, and will only expect to do chapters 1-2 for the entire Fall 10 week session.

This is going to be an exegetical study, full of word searches and "the Greek means..." Also there will be homework--and the more
you do, the more you will glean! This is not still, shallow water; this is what Martin Luther called THE GREAT DEEPS OF SCRIPTURE>
This will change your view of Scripture, and your outlook on our Awesome God...I can literally PROMISE it will be life-changing!

LADIES OF WOW!: Note!

Our JOURNEY TO JERUSALEM BEGINS TUES JAN 18, Uptown 243
Chapter 18, Gospel of Luke
"Lessons from the Pharisee & the Publican"
7-9 p.m. Bring a Friend!

From now on, class meets Mondays in 243...

For advance Prep on this passage, do the following.

1. Read the Gospel of Luke in one sitting Chapters 1-18 (more if you can!) with a pen and pad at hand, and noting repeated themes you observe throughout.
2. Now read Chapter 18 slowly and look for any natural divisions or "groupings." For example, how are v. 1-8, v. 9-14, a nd v. 15-17 all connected?

3. How are passages 15-17 and 18-30 "opposite?"
4. Vs. 31-34 represent a repeating theme in the book of the COST of discipleship! Go back a couple of chapters until you find at least two other instances of this theme...
5. Do you think the parable we will focus on (v. 9-14) is CHIEFLY about prayer, or also about something else? what is it?
6. How, specifically, is the early part of Chapter 19 connected to the teachings in Chapter 18? (more than one way)....
7. Divide chapter 18 into "Sections" and name each one.

SEE YOU TUESDAY LADIES; God Bless You
